This ginger salad dressing is not only 100% raw vegan, but it is also a healthier take on the classic dressing from Japanese restaurants.

If you frequent Japanese restaurants, then you are familiar with the tangy and refreshing ginger salad dressing. It tends to be a bit orange and creamy, offering a subtly spicy kick from the fresh ginger. The only problem with these gingery dressings is that they tend to be rich in sugar and heavy-handed on the salt. That’s why eating out a lot can be dangerous to your health, especially heart health.

This healthy rendition of a classic Japanese restaurant ginger dressing only contains natural ingredients, but it also boasts a ton of flavor. What makes this salad dressing healthier is that it contains avocado oil instead of vegetable seed or canola oil. Those oils are cheaper, pro-inflammatory, and increase the risk of high cholesterol. Using higher quality oils and replacing sodium-rich soy sauce with coconut aminos makes this dressing less salty and higher in heart-healthy fats. Plus, this dressing is also raw vegan and gluten-free, two things that are pretty impossible to achieve with the standard ingredients that go into this type of dressing.

Because this dressing contains fresh ingredients, it will only stay fresh in the fridge for about 3-4 days. Make sure to keep it in an airtight jar or container, or you can store it the same way in the freezer to keep it fresh for longer.

This is not your average salad dressing. Containing five simple ingredients, this tahini ginger dressing has myriad uses. You can use it as a dipping sauce for raw vegan sushi rolls, or you can drizzle it over zoodles. You can even use this after your cleanse is over! It goes great on roasted vegetables or quinoa.

Tahini is an excellent ingredient for salad dressings or sauces because of the inherent creaminess. If you want to make your own tahini, you can click here. The main thing to keep in mind when buying tahini during your cleanse is that it only contains sesame seeds. It should not contain other ingredients because then it is not cleanse approved.

This salad is a little out of the ordinary, only in that it contains ingredients that you wouldn’t normally choose to include in a salad. Don’t let that scare you, though. It’s good to experiment with different ingredients, both for the salad and the dressing.

There are various textures and flavors in this salad, which makes for an enjoyable eating experience. The beets offer a rich earthiness, but the spicy ginger dressing balances that flavor. The sweetness of the dried cranberries (make sure they are unsulfured and free of added sugars) complement the greens. It’s a great salad, so go ahead and add it to recipe arsenal.

This recipe, for example, is quite simple to make, but it is way more interesting than a boring salad. You don’t have to make the Ginger Dressing, but drizzling a little on each romaine boat enhances the flavor.

Rather than spending Valentine’s Day looking for parking, waiting in line to pick up food from restaurants, or ordering from pre-fixed limited menus, stay home and get creative in the kitchen with your significant other. It will be a romantic time and a food fight may or may not take place, depending on who decides to commit to the first chocolate smear or lettuce toss.

Given that February is American Heart Month, we thought we’d provide you with a few recipes that contain beets. We know that everyone is not a beet lover, but beets are juicy, red, and are great for nurturing the heart. They provide a rich, earthy flavor to dishes and you can even use their juice to finger-paint a Valentine’s Day card.

Here’s a little tip: always make a card from scratch. Take a piece of paper, fold it in half, write “I Love You” inside, and cut a thin beet slice into a heart for a cool stamp. We aren’t saying that this card is the key to unlocking the mysteries of love, but you can throw us a shout out if you do make this and things start heating up. Tag us on social media at Twitter: @dherbs, Facebook: @dherbsfamily, or Instagram: @dherbs.

The following recipes are healthy, delicious, and they will definitely romanticize your evening.

A salad that contains your favorite ingredients is nothing without a fantastic dressing. Similarly, lead characters are nothing without the supporting cast. With salads, however, one might argue that the dressing can often times steal the show with its diverse flavor profile and dramatic lead performance. Sorry, we just got really caught up in the acting metaphor.

The summer months are nearing, which means that you will likely begin craving lighter meals. These meals don’t have to be salads, but salads provide never-ending possibilities for flavor combinations. Remember that your salads should always differ, and using the same salad ingredients and dressings will force you to avoid them whenever possible.

An amazing dressing can elevate the flavor profile of a salad, transforming it from a boring plate of veggies to your favorite restaurant dish that you keep coming back for. That’s why we assembled a list of our three favorite dressings, which will enhance some of the best summer produce varieties. Each dressing offers a unique flavor, so you don’t have to worry about boring your taste buds. Once you make them, let us know what you think in the comments below.

Tangy Cilantro Lime Dressing

Whether you want to enhance plant-based burrito bowls with black beans, romaine, tomatoes, bell peppers, and wild rice, or give your salad a Mexican flare, this is the dressing you need. The tartness from the lime accentuates the herbaceous cilantro flavor.

  • ½ cup cilantro
  • juice of 1 lime (you can use two if you love lime juice)
  • ½ jalapeno, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon grade A maple syrup
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground mustard seed
  • ½ cup filtered water

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • It will stay fresh in an airtight glass jar in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Zesty Cucumber Ranch Dressing

If you weren’t already seduced by the name of this dressing, let us tell you that this dressing or dip is filled with aromatic herbs and spices that keep you coming back bite after bite.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup hemp seeds
  • 1 cup cucumber, chopped
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon grade A maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup filtered water

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • It will stay fresh in an airtight glass jar in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Creamy Carrot Ginger Dressing

The bright orange color makes this dressing stand out from the rest. The complex Asian flavors pair beautifully with fresh ingredients, but they can also enhance steamed broccoli, or a give your stir-fry a lil’ somethin’ extra! Just save the cooked foods until your cleanse is over.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large carrots, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons raw tahini
  • 1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grade A maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup filtered water
  • 1/3 cup homemade coconut milk (click here for recipe)

Instructions:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • It will stay fresh in an airtight glass jar in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Note: If you choose not to make the coconut milk or use the suggested ingredients in the dressings, they will no longer be cleanse-approved. We hope you like them!
