Deep cleansing with mineral-rich clay
Five natural clays in one facial treatment
Daily exposure to excess oil, sweat, makeup, environmental pollutants and other surface buildup can leave the complexion looking dull or congested. Facial Clay Mask provides a mineral-rich deep-cleansing treatment designed to lift away unwanted residue and leave the skin feeling cleaner, smoother and refreshed.
Instead of relying on one type of clay, our formula combines bentonite, French, Moroccan, kaolin and Fuller's earth clays. Each has different mineral characteristics and absorbent properties, creating a comprehensive clay-based treatment for maintaining a clean and balanced-looking complexion.
MSM sulfur and sea salt complete the seven-ingredient formula.
How a clay mask cleans the skin
Absorption and adsorption work at the skin's surface
Clay masks behave differently from conventional facial cleansers. Their naturally porous mineral structures can interact with oil, dirt and other substances on the skin as the mask sits and dries.
Facial Clay Mask helps absorb excess surface oil while clay particles adsorb certain materials onto their surfaces. As the mask dries and is rinsed away, accumulated oil and unwanted residue are removed with it.
This physical cleansing action is one reason mineral clays have remained popular in skincare for generations.
Supporting clearer-looking pores
Removing the buildup that can make pores more noticeable
Pores can become more noticeable when excess sebum, dead surface cells and everyday buildup accumulate around their openings. Although skincare products cannot permanently change your natural pore structure, keeping the skin clean can help pores appear less congested and more refined.
Facial Clay Mask helps remove excess surface oil and impurities that contribute to a congested appearance. The result is skin that feels thoroughly cleansed and looks fresher and smoother.
Excess oil vs. natural skin moisture
Deep cleansing does not mean removing everything
Healthy skin naturally produces sebum, and completely stripping that oil is not the goal of a balanced skincare routine.
Facial Clay Mask is designed to absorb unwanted excess oil and accumulated residue while supporting the skin's natural moisture balance. Following the mask with an appropriate moisturizer or facial oil can further help maintain softness, particularly for normal, dry or combination skin.
The amount of time the mask remains on the skin also matters. Sensitive skin does not require the same drying time as normal skin.
Bentonite and kaolin clay in one facial mask
Combining stronger absorption with gentler cleansing
Bentonite and kaolin are both popular cosmetic clays, but they do not behave exactly the same way. Bentonite is known for strong absorption and its swelling characteristics, while kaolin typically provides a gentler clay experience.
Facial Clay Mask combines both with French clay, Moroccan clay and Fuller's earth instead of depending on a single clay for the entire treatment.
Clay mask vs. facial scrub
Mineral-based cleansing without aggressive scrubbing
A physical facial scrub typically uses particles that move across the skin to mechanically loosen dead surface cells. Clay works differently.
Facial Clay Mask relies primarily on the absorbent and adsorbent characteristics of mineral clays. Instead of aggressively rubbing the complexion, you spread the mask across the skin, allow it to sit for the recommended time and gently rinse it away.
This makes a clay treatment useful when the primary goal is deep cleansing and oil absorption rather than mechanical exfoliation.
Clay mask vs. cleanser
Weekly treatment and daily cleansing serve different purposes
A facial cleanser is typically designed for frequent use to remove everyday dirt, oil, sunscreen and other surface residue. A clay mask is a more intensive treatment that remains on the skin temporarily before being rinsed away.
Facial Clay Mask should therefore complement a regular cleansing routine rather than replace it. Clean skin first when necessary, apply the mask, allow it to work for the appropriate amount of time and rinse thoroughly.
Facial Clay Mask vs. Facial Exfoliating Mask
Deep cleansing vs. surface exfoliation
Facial Clay Mask and our Facial Exfoliating Mask address different skincare needs.
Facial Clay Mask uses mineral clays to absorb excess surface oil and provide a deeper cleansing experience. Its primary focus is oil, impurities, buildup and congested-looking skin.
Our Facial Exfoliating Mask uses pumpkin seed powder along with papain and bromelain enzymes. Its primary purpose is helping remove accumulated dead surface cells and improving the feel and appearance of skin texture.
Choose Facial Clay Mask when your priority is deep cleansing and excess oil. Choose Facial Exfoliating Mask when your priority is exfoliation and surface texture. The two can also occupy different places in a balanced skincare routine.
Facial Clay Mask vs. Facial Seaweed Mask
Purifying vs. replenishing
These two masks provide distinctly different skincare experiences.
Facial Clay Mask focuses primarily on deep cleansing, absorbing excess oil and removing unwanted surface residue with five mineral clays.
Our Facial Seaweed Mask combines kelp, dulse and Irish moss and focuses more heavily on hydration, nourishment, revitalization and moisture support.
If your skin feels oily or congested, Facial Clay Mask may be the more appropriate treatment. When the complexion needs hydration and replenishment, Facial Seaweed Mask offers a complementary approach.
Using different masks according to what your skin needs can provide a more versatile routine than expecting one mask to perform every skincare function.
A mask for oily, combination and normal skin
Adjusting the treatment to your complexion
The oil-absorbing characteristics of Facial Clay Mask make it especially useful for oily and combination complexions, but the product is not limited to those skin types.
People with normal skin can use it when they want a deeper cleansing treatment. Those with sensitive skin should follow the shorter recommended application time and pay close attention to how their skin responds.
Dry skin may require less frequent use and should generally be followed with an appropriate moisturizing step.
Mineral-rich skincare without unnecessary complexity
Seven focused ingredients
Long ingredient lists are not necessary for every skincare product.
Facial Clay Mask contains seven primary ingredients: five types of mineral clay, MSM sulfur and sea salt. Each serves a purpose within a formula centered on cleansing, oil absorption and skin purification.
The naturally occurring minerals vary according to the geological source of each clay, but may include silica, magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium and other mineral compounds.
Ingredients
Bentonite clay
Bentonite is a highly absorbent natural clay formed largely from weathered volcanic ash. Its primary clay mineral is typically montmorillonite, a layered aluminosilicate with a high surface area and strong adsorptive characteristics.
Depending on its geological source, bentonite can naturally contain mineral elements and compounds associated with silica, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and iron.
We include bentonite in Facial Clay Mask because its absorbent and adsorbent characteristics make it especially useful for lifting excess surface oil and accumulated impurities from the skin.
French clay
French clay is valued in cosmetic formulations for its mineral content and ability to absorb excess surface oil. Its exact composition varies according to the source and specific clay type.
Naturally occurring mineral components may include silica, magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium and aluminum-containing clay minerals. Iron oxides and decomposed plant material can also contribute to the characteristic coloration of certain French clays.
We use French clay to complement bentonite's deeper oil-absorbing action while supporting a clean, smooth and refreshed-looking complexion.
Moroccan clay
Moroccan clay, commonly known as rhassoul or ghassoul clay, has a long history of cosmetic use in North Africa. It is particularly associated with mineral compounds containing silica and magnesium, along with naturally occurring calcium, potassium, iron and aluminum-containing minerals.
Its mineral structure allows it to absorb oils and surface residue while providing a smooth clay-mask texture.
We include Moroccan clay in Facial Clay Mask to support deep cleansing, oil absorption and a smoother skin feel.
Kaolin clay
Kaolin is a comparatively gentle cosmetic clay composed primarily of kaolinite, an aluminum silicate mineral.
Depending on its natural source, kaolin can contain silica and aluminum compounds with smaller or varying amounts of iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium and other mineral constituents.
Kaolin generally has milder oil-absorbing properties than highly swelling clays such as bentonite. We include it to balance the formula and provide gentle surface cleansing while helping absorb unwanted oil and residue.
Fuller's earth
Fuller's earth refers to naturally occurring absorbent clay materials rather than one single mineral. Depending on its geological origin, it may contain clay minerals such as montmorillonite, palygorskite or kaolinite, along with varying mineral compounds.
Its naturally occurring constituents may include silica, magnesium, calcium, iron and aluminum-containing minerals.
Fuller's earth has traditionally been valued for its strong ability to absorb oils. We use it in Facial Clay Mask to complement the other clays and support a deeply cleansed, balanced-looking complexion.
MSM sulfur
MSM stands for methylsulfonylmethane, an organosulfur compound. Its defining constituent is sulfur, an element naturally involved in structural compounds throughout the body.
In topical skincare, MSM is commonly incorporated into formulas centered on skin conditioning and clarity.
We include MSM in Facial Clay Mask as a sulfur-containing complement to the mineral clays and to support the formula's overall focus on clean, healthy-looking skin.
Sea salt
Sea salt consists primarily of sodium chloride, but naturally sourced sea salt may also contain trace quantities of minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium, depending on its source and processing.
We include sea salt to complement the mineral-rich character of Facial Clay Mask and support its cleansing and skin-refreshing properties.
How to use
Using Facial Clay Mask correctly
Give the clay enough time without over-drying your skin
Using your fingertips, spread a consistent layer of Facial Clay Mask over the desired area of skin. Avoid the eyes, mouth, inside of the nose and ears.
For sensitive skin, allow the mask to dry for approximately 4 minutes.
For normal skin, allow the mask to dry for approximately 8 minutes.
You will feel the mask begin to tighten as it dries. Once the appropriate time has passed, wash thoroughly and gently until the clay has been completely removed.
For external use only. Discontinue use if an adverse skin reaction occurs.
A mineral-rich addition to your weekly skincare routine
Deep cleansing when your complexion needs it
Facial Clay Mask works best as one component of a balanced skincare routine rather than as the only product used on the complexion.
A simple routine may look like this:
- Cleanse the face and remove makeup, sunscreen and surface buildup.
- Apply Facial Clay Mask for the recommended amount of time.
- Rinse thoroughly and gently pat the skin dry.
- Follow with a facial toner or astringent when appropriate.
- Apply a suitable facial moisturizer or botanical oil.
We recommend adjusting how often you use a clay mask according to your skin type and how your complexion responds.
