Frigidity
Frigidity is a term that describes low libido or sex drive in women. This term doesn't refer to women who are indifferent to sex, rather, it indicates a low sexual desire that may possibly stem from a psyche. In other Frigidity cases, women may want to avoid sexual intimacy, endure sex without experiencing orgasms, or they simple don't enjoy sex. Frigidity can put strain on relationships and it's best to find the root of the problem to create healthier communication and intimacy.
The most common sign of Frigidity is a woman's low libido, or her difficulty becoming aroused. There are multiple factors that can play into this equation and the most common signs that one feels are:
- Low Libido
- Lack of Sexual Desire
- Wanting to Avoid Sex
- Inability to Reach Orgasm (during sex)
- Avoidance of Sexual Intimacy
- Finding Little Pleasure During Sex
Sexuality is not simple or cut and dry. There are many emotions, behaviors, or feelings that involve romance, closeness with a partner, and feelings of sexual desire. For intimacy to feel right, both partners have to be comfortable, engaged, and excited about engaging in sexual activity. There is no one cause for Frigidity. It is possible that it is due to a physical problem such as low hormone production, but it could also be a psychological cause. Causes are listed below:
- Anxiety or Depression
- Hormonal Changes (such as those related to Menopause)
- Lack of Lubrication (vaginal dryness)
- Lack of Stimulation
- Fear of Pain, Infection, or Getting Pregnant
- History of Sexual Abuse
- Feelings of Guilt or Shame (about sex)
- Communication Problems with Partner

- Since Frigidity may be a result of poor communication with a partner, it may be helpful to go to couples therapy to get to the root of the problem. It's important to be open with your partner about any feelings relating to sexual intimacy. It also may be beneficial to see a therapist alone if there is a history of sexual abuse.
- Using natural lubricants is one of the best remedies if you have Vaginal Dryness. You can use botanical oils like coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, or grape seed oil as lubricants. All of these botanical oils are good for the body, safe to consume, and safe on the genital area.
- Another good natural method to try is taking the time to have stimulating sexual thoughts. For women, sexual arousal is not just about the physical aspect, but mental as well. Taking the time to visualize erotic activities, stimulating thoughts, sexual acts, and past sexual experiences can help enhance sexual desire.
- Exercises like yoga, Pilates, and Kegel help increase your blood flow and can help assist your body to self-lubricate or feel aroused. The releasing of endorphins helps to boost your mood and spirits and can help restore a healthy libido.
- If you are stressed out than it is important to de-stress either by getting regular massages, going to spas to relax, or meditating. Meditation can be a fantastic way to help relieve the body of stress and help restore calmness when it comes to dealing with everyday situations.
- Damiana, also known as the woman's sexuality herb, is a natural and popular aphrodisiac. The alkaloids in the plant stimulate nerves and sexual organs. Not only does it help support sexual organs, but it can also enhace pleasure.
