Vaginal Dryness

What Is Vaginal Dryness

The vagina is a self-lubricating organ, meaning it naturally lubricates itself when sexual arousal or stimulation occurs.  Vaginal Dryness is when the organ is insufficient or has issues with self-lubricating.  The term atrophic vaginitis refers to the thinning of the tissues of the vagina due to the lack of estrogen.  It’s a condition that some women experience in their forties or during the stages of menopause as their estrogen levels decline.  It’s uncommon for women to experience Vaginal Dryness in their early ages.  Young women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or using hormonal treatments can also experience Vaginal Dryness, as their hormones are susceptible to changes.

Natural Remedies

  • Using natural lubricants is one of the best remedies for Vaginal Dryness.  You can use botanical oils like coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, or grape seed oil as a lubricant.  All of these botanical oils are good for the body, safe to consume, and safe on the genital area.
  • Another good natural method to try is taking the time to have stimulating sexual thoughts.  For women, sexual arousal is not just about the physical aspect, but mental as well.  Taking the time to visualize erotic activities, stimulating thoughts, sexual acts, and past sexual experiences can help enhance natural lubrication.
  • Exercises like yoga, Pilates, and Kegel help increase your blood flow and can help assist your body to self-lubricate.  The releasing of endorphins helps to boost your mood and spirits.
  • Masturbation, foreplay, and cunnilingus can also help revive stimulation for a woman to self-lubricate.
